Scalar
Physical quantity which requires only magnitude with proper unit for its complete description
is called scalar.
e.g. distance, time, speed, length, temperature, volume, mass, density
Vector
Physical quantity which requires both magnitude with proper unit and direction for its complete
description is called vector.
e.g. velocity, acceleration, force, momentum, displacement, torque
Resultant Vector
The resultant of a number of similar vectors is that single vector which would have the same
effect as all the original vectors taken together.
Rectangular Coordinate System
Two lines drawn at right angles to each other are known as coordinate axes and their point of
intersection is known as origin. This system of coordinate axes is called as Cartesian or Rectangular
coordinate system.
